Big thank you goes out to Dr. Jeffrey Wulfman and to Physician’s Weekly for getting the word out to healthcare providers about the importance of testing for Bartonella infection.
As described by Dr. Wulfman, the emerging research suggests that manifestations of Bartonella infection go far beyond a simple diagnosis of Cat Scratch Disease (CSD). Persistent Bartonella bacteremia is associated with a broad range of symptoms affecting multiple systems of the body (joints, bones, eyes, skin, heart, liver, lymph nodes, spleen and the central nervous system) in the medical case serious literature. The evidence is mounting to suggest that these recently discovered bacteria are much more important than currently appreciated.
